Notes

154. Jack Zachary FALCON

He is retired from a tire company in Akron , Ohio

BIOGRAPHY: He was the only one in the family to get educated, mainly because he was deaf from birth.  His parents would never let him see the Mississippi river because his brother died trying to swim it.  He and his wife got college degrees. During college, he and his wife played a prank on the librarian by turning all the books backward.  He worked in Akron, Ohio as a chemist. Since deaf people weren't eligible for the war, he got hired.  He retired at 62 and moved to Louisiana.  He took a strong interest in genealogy, collecting much about the Falcon family during his later life.

Virginia H BOURGEOIS

BIOGRAPHY: She was deaf.  She was born hearing but a local doctor treated an ear infection (Rheumatic fever) incorrectly with the wrong medicine.  Later, a specialist in New Orleans determined it was too late to help her hearing. She graduated from college in Washington DC. Being deaf, she did not attend school until she was 8 or 9 years old.  She got a late start in school which was common for many deaf children. She worked as a filing clerk in the army until she got married.
